Sorry for being m.i.a. but I’ve been rather swamped with work, doing yoga, running, cooking soup, eating chocolate and drinking wine lately. Oh and let’s not forget watching Downton Abbey. Very important stuff I’m telling you.

Last weekend at home was quite amazing as I got to see my whole family.. I also went to a yoga class at my dear teacher’s “new” (to me) yoga studio. It was brilliant.

I also went on a run with my dad and while I was having troubles keeping my sandwich down I felt like a moronic city tourist breathing in the country air. (It was fresh though!!)

Being a normal birthday dinner it peaked in a heated discussion about data protection and having your picture online (me? A picture online? Never!!). We came to the conclusion that as long as the person who’s on the photo is ok with it being published it’s all fine.

Naturally I go ahead and post this picture of myself and my mum.. without me asking her! (oooh dear she might disinherit me).

I ruthlessly go ahead and post a picture of Sel, my dad and I as well… only because I love them to bits. So whoever might see this online – pow! – here’s my awesome dad and my best friend aka sister Sel.

He looks a bit uncomfortable posing with two idiots. Oh well.

Now I’m on the brink of posting that HILARIOUS photo of my grandpa looking like a psycho (sorry but it’s true) paparazzi but I’m holding myself back. Don’t want to have my entire family against me.

So I’ll go and read Yoga Journal now (because I’m very yogic, you know, and take my shit seriously..). I somehow need to roll out of bed at 5:30am tomorrow.. Not quite sure how I’ll manage to do that.

I just deleted a bunch of old posts.
“old” meaning pre-London. Are you shocked? I hope so!
But I felt like this blog needed some freshening up since it’s not really a food blog anymore.

ANYWAY..

Remember the secret mission I told you about? Well it was a complete success. Here’s how it went:

You know, when my sister and I BOTH manage to keep a secret then it’s almost as spectacular as the fall of the Berlin Wall. It wouldn’t surprise me if this would go down in the history books as well. (Not that I can’t keep secrets but it’s a complete different story with Selina ).

See, I bought a ticket for a flight back home weeks ago without telling my family (except my sister of course). We wanted to keep it a secret and surprise them – which was actually the most difficult part but we played our roles quite well.

Sel invited the folks over for dinner on Friday and suddenly (“tadaaaaaaa!”) there I was! You should have seen their faces. HILARIOUS! My dad actually pinched me.

On Saturday we went over to my grandma’s as it was her birthday the day before. It was so lovely to see my grandparents again, I really miss them.

Isn’t she gorgeous (my grandmother I mean, obviously!!)? She’s the kindest person on the planet and one of my biggest heroes.

In the afternoon we cheered on my dad. He ran the GP of Bern – my absolute favourite race. I felt a bit sad that I wasn’t participating but as it was pouring down I felt quite ok with “only” supporting the runners.

Btw, he’s not balding. That’s only the rain. And the angle. Of course.

The rest of the weekend was spent hanging out with my friends. Words cannot describe how much I love them.

Haha Selina and I don’t really look like sisters anymore what with me still being Central America-tanned. But so be it, I’ll turn pasty white again soon enough I suppose.

me! (hard to guess, huh? There are only two choices after all..)

And I hate my own birthday. But nevertheless I feel endlessly grateful to my parents who gave me my life. I’d rather have people congratulating them (especially my mum) than me because after all.. I didn’t do very much on that day.

So yesterday I was just grateful for everything.

Unfortunately there has been an other strong earthquake in Japan and I can’t help but feel quite devastated. Haven’t they suffered enough? I love my second “home country” and can’t believe what they are put through over and over again.
And yet I am amazed by the calmness they handle things. There’s hardly any panic and people all help each other. There is so much we can learn from them.

Which leads me to an other point..

I’m grateful for being a child of two nationalities.

Thanks again mum and dad. You don’t know how amazing you both are.
