K & W

I know I haven’t been around in ages but I’ve had so much going on.. like a Virus on my laptop, a visit from my sister and her bf and oh! the Royal Wedding.

Which takes place today.

We have the TV on and it looks like people are already going insane. We’ll go and see the whole shebang with our teacher later on. Good times!

So.. is there anyone else who thinks that Harry will forget the rings? ;)

Films And Cakes

Category : Films

I think I have a new favourite cinema in London.

We went and saw “Submarine” on our “traditional” Sunday movie night (my roomie and I established that when we had to write a film review). And if you ever get the chance: please go and see this amazing little film!

We saw the film in Curzon on Shaftesbury Avenue and it’s my new favourite cinema. It’s small, has a bar, plus a café that sells delicious cakes which you can take into the cinema.

They show more “artsy” films (you know, the ones that end up on the “Best Foreign Film” list at the Oscars) and I can’t wait to go back. Well they show “Little White Lies” there soon.. hehe.

PS: Have you seen/watched a good film lately? “Your Highness” gets released this week and I can’t wait to see it. The trailer is so hilarious. Have you watched it? In case you haven’t.. here it is:

ps: Our budgets don’t allow us to go to the cinema every week so we also watch films on DVDs. Just in case you assume I’ll be broke by the end of the month (hint hint mum and dad).

Harry and I.

Yesterday I popped by Sainsbury’s and they had Harry Potter 7.1 on sale.

So when I wanted to pay for the DVD and the oranges and the quorn (excitement..) the cashier asked me if I had an ID (!!!) with me.

Oh and in case you can’t see that little number on the DVD case..

After I stared at her blankly for 10 seconds or so she asked me: “How old are you?” and I said “Erm….. 24…?”.

I mean seriously…

WTF?

But she let me go without any proof of ID (because I had none with me). Whew.
Maybe it was my Justin Bieber T-shirt and the lollipop in my left hand that gave me away. Or maybe the piggy tails. Or my braces.

Whatever it was, I now officially look like a 11-year-old. Excellent.

Twenty-four years ago yesterday my mother gave birth to..

..tam tam tam..

me! (hard to guess, huh? There are only two choices after all..)

And I hate my own birthday. But nevertheless I feel endlessly grateful to my parents who gave me my life. I’d rather have people congratulating them (especially my mum) than me because after all.. I didn’t do very much on that day. ;)

So yesterday I was just grateful for everything.

Amazing new friends (who will probably kill me if they ever find out that these pictures are on the internet)

(and on a much sadder note…)
Unfortunately there has been an other strong earthquake in Japan and I can’t help but feel quite devastated. Haven’t they suffered enough? I love my second “home country” and can’t believe what they are put through over and over again.
And yet I am amazed by the calmness they handle things. There’s hardly any panic and people all help each other. There is so much we can learn from them.

Which leads me to an other point..

I’m grateful for being a child of two nationalities.

Thanks again mum and dad. You don’t know how amazing you both are.

Foodie Post, Le Shock!

Category : Eating Out, London

It’s probably not necessary to point this out but London is FOODIE HEAVEN!!!

Two of my favourite places in town – Camden and Brick Lane are chock full with goodies. Can’t believe I didn’t go to either of these places in two weeks! But yesterday I popped by Camden and today we strolled through Brick Lane. Good times.

Camden

No these aren’t bikes. You sit and eat on them.

I had Thai and I’ve had better (and less fattier) Thai in my life but oh well..

Brick Lane

I’ve honestly never  been to Brick Lane on a Sunday before and oh boy have I been missing out. It’s becoming my new favourite place on earth.

Food next to really cool fashion? Heaven!

I almost shrieked when I saw Tako Yaki being sold. I might not eat seafood anymore but this reminds me so much of my late grandfather. When I once visited as a child we went to the supermarket to get some groceries. And I guess my grandpa wasn’t that into produce so we sneaked off and got some Tako Yaki. I don’t know why I still remember this but for some reason it made a lasting impression. Awww I miss him.

I had a £4.5 Sri Lankan dish that was spectacular spectacular spectacular spectacular spectacular…..

And then we shared this Malaysian peanut pancake and it might not look that impressive but holy moly party in my mouth.

I will go and have one every week.

Bliss.

And in a few minutes I’ll talk to my family on Skype. Enter: happy, silly dancing.

The Weather In London

Category : London

It doesn’t always rain in London. Sometimes it’s only windy.

(please ignore my eyebrows, they are pretty neglected –but who cares!!-)

By the way, the cute little road behind me is where I live:

Now if that doesn’t scream “ENGLAND!!!” I don’t know what else does.

Peace and love and cupcakes

ps: happy April fools day! Any pranks worth noting??
