Greens At The Greenhouse
This weekend was so much needed and soooo good to the soul
. I hope you had a good one too!
The past week has been insane indeed but I hope that everything will calm down a bit now.. starting with today!
I actually have the day off and have to get lots done such as buying new running shoes, cleaning the apartment (!!), groceries shopping, making holiday plans with Simone…
I am really sorry that my posts have been so scarce but this will hopefully change asap
.
Saturday’s plans were definitely cancelled as it was raining. Hiking just isn’t that much fun in this weather. So after some discussion we decided to go to Lucerne where we went to the IMAX, walked along the lake, went to a comics exhibition and then got on a boat where we played yahtzee for two hours. The boat ride was lovely, despite the awful weather..
We ended up in the very heart of Switzerland (you know, where they still yodel and such.. hehe kidding, sort of..). Afterwards we headed to Zurich for dinner.
Silvio’s brother knew a place and so we took the bus to nowhere and were wondering where on earth that restaurant was.
All of a sudden we found it: The greenhouse!
I’ve never been to such a cool restaurant in my life. It was literally in a greenhouse and looked like a jungle.
I got a plate full of veggies and rice and was a happy camper. (No pics though.. the lightning was awful!!)
^^^^^
As you probably know, Sweden’s one of my favourite countries. Every year I’m thrilled when it’s time for the Sweden weeks. It offers an amazing programme such as great readings, viewings and concerts of Swedish films and bands, a special Swedish beer and so on.
On yesterday’s programme was a Swedish brunch at the Altes Tramdepot. I knew that we had to go there.
Unfortunately we arrived at the restaurant at 11:15am and only had 15 minutes left until the buffet closed. So we decided to load up our plates.
I’m horrible when it comes to buffets, especially when I don’t have much time.
I grabbed everything in sight…
Yes that was all for me. After eating the eggs and rösti I was full to the brim. Ha! Not much of a surprise huh? I think I ended up eating 2/3 of everything. Oh my god. that was WAY too much food.
Needless to say that I only had a salad for dinner.
This definitely wasn’t my best healthy eater behaviour but you should have seen this buffet, it was insane!
The weekend ended with an amazing Yann Tiersen concert. He played some of his most famous songs (from the film Amélie) very very differently (think: on a violin, synthesizer and guitar instead of the piano or the accordion). I loved that he gave the songs such a creative new twist!
Q: Weekend highlights??? Mine was the boat ride, brunch and concert. I feel really lucky

That restaurant looks great! Enjoy your day off, you deserve some relaxation:)

It sounds like a great weekend!
Have a great day off!!
It sounds like you had a great weekend! I love boats since I rarely get to go on them. I’ve never played yahtzee but playing anything (scrabble maybe?) on one sounds like it’d be so much fun. And the green house is awesome! There used to be a rain forest cafe in my mall that was like eating in a fake jungle, and every 15 minutes they’d have a thunderstorm. It was really cool. I’m sure yours is a little classier though, being in an actual green house and all
My weekend highlights are nothing compared to yours!!! That looks like an amazing little trip!!
Amazing weekend you had there! and those lake pictures..it looks so peaceful and nice.
assisting the vet at it, and seeing all other animal patients. Uni doesn’t show you the real work, so this was awesome!
my best part was seeing my cat get castrated
Both the boat ride and the restaurant look and sound amazing; glad you had a good weekend!
My weekend wasn’t nearly as exciting. Saturday was devoted to running around and getting an endless amount of things done, and Sunday was spent at home with the family. Wanna trade?
haha yea it would be impossible to eat healthy at a delicious well assorted open buffet.. and why would u want to anyways. i can see why ud be stuffed! so much incredible eats. looks like u had a great time! what a great way to spend the weekend!!!!
xoxo <3
Lucerne is so beautiful! And so is the food that you ate at the buffet
I miss swiss food! But Stef and I were just talking about your visit in SF and we should all definitely meet up and…eat..duh!
sounds like you totally needed your weekend, awesome that you got a good one!
the nature shots are breathtaking.
choco banana cake from last post…OMG beautiful~
and yoga pushing you..yes, it pushes us out of comfort and into growth I believe, which at the time can suck, but in the long run, is awesome
Sounds fabulous! I had the best kickboxing lesson saturday and a crazy night on the town after! x x
Those pictures from your boat ride are breathtaking. There is NO scenery and natural wonder in my neck of the woods. I doubt ugly highways, concrete paradise and suburban ghetto qualifies and gorgeous! HA! You’re so lucky!
The cheese on that plate!!!!!!!!!!!!! I WANT IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Also, Amelie is my absolute favorite movie. LOVE it.
I visited my Uncle years ago when he lived in Zurich and we took a day trip to Lucerne. I want to go back so badly. Probably the highlight of my trip was the hiking. We hiked from Wengen to Lauterbrunnen (or visa versa, whichever was heading uphill) and took a train to the Jungfrau. So awesome!
I love Amélie! That concert would have been amazing.
I love the photos from the boat. Gosh. It is so beautiful there!
I guess my weekend highlight was runing the half marathon. And eating a giant burrito!
beautiful photos! enjoy your day off – well deserved!
WOW! Those views are amazing! Seeing that really has to be good for your soul and your nerves!
LOL It is really irritating to see fotos of a restaurant I know!! ;D
Acutally I work about five minutes from that restaurant and when
the weather is good I walk beside it because it’s right on the trail
from Altstetten (where I work) to Schlieren (where I life!!)
Funny story! But I digress… Looks like your weekend was great
despite the fact that the weather war reeeeeally aweful!!
oh Karin, the pics are amazing-what beautiful country side
my highlight was dinner at cafe fiore friday night
