The Charming Basement Gyms
Ok let’s rant for a second: Having no laptop SUCKS! I’m currently blogging from my parent’s place and yesterday I quickly typed a post on my boyfriend’s laptop. I miss reading blogs but don’t have the time to check them right now because I want to go and help my mum with dinner after I hit publish. Sorry guys! I promise, I’ll catch up with your lives tomorrow.
I just came back from running (9km) and weight training with my dad. We went to his gym which is a very typical “basement gym” (with all its charms
) but it was cheap and had all the equipments that I needed.
It was good (especially the run) and I am SUPER hungry now.
Yesterday I ended up giving my Thrive book a break and quickly made a casserole of sorts and some spinach with garlic.
For the casserole (which was actually more like a frittata) I mixed 1 egg and 3 egg whites with some left over cooked lentils, mushrooms and carrots. I topped it off with more mushrooms and some Emmental cheese.
..and then I went and had a drink (or two
) with my friend Christine. She’ll go and study in Oxford in less than two weeks and so we made plans to go out next week. I’ll miss her so much when she’ll be away (but it’s good that she only stays for 3 months, hehe.)
Fast forward to this morning: I actually slept in until 9:45am (shocker!
) and then made an oldie but a goodie.
Are you tired of porridge photos yet?
For the road I also made a juice with
- 2 handfuls of spinach
- 2 carrots
- 1 apple
- 1/2 lemon
I love how colourful they always turn out!
I wish I could juice more often but it does take a bit of time plus it makes a lot of noise! Apparently our neighbours who live below us have the bedroom right under our kitchen.. Needless to say that they wouldn’t be too happy when I’d juice at 7am.
Q: Do you have a juicer? If yes: Do you have any tips how to now annoy the neighbours with the noise? I’ve been thinking about making them the day before but I’m not so sure if they’re still that tasty when they’re not fresh.
Gotta run now and help with dinner. See ya!

no juicer here!! but that casserole looks so good and so does your breakfast…yay for sleepin in and glad you had fun with your friend!
i’m sorry you are laptop-less, that must be awfuL!!! i will NEVER get tired of your “porridge” pics
. yum that nut butter. i don’t have a juicer but im sure i drive my neighbors crazy every time i use the mini food processor. that thing is LOUD
That casserole looks SO good!!!! Sorry you’re still laptop-less
Ruh-roh about the juicer…mine isn’t that loud, so I don’t really have any tips for you! Maybe if you bring them a glass of fresh juice, they’ll be less annoyed?
I couldn’t imagine having no laptop! I would go nuts. I had to go laptop free for about a week last year and it was almost painful. Not good.
I do have a juicer but I hardly ever use it anymore. I wish I had some tips to give you for not annoying the neighbors, but I’ve never had to deal with that problem
It’s probably best to drink them fresh though… you could always just get a juice in later in the day instead of the morning.
i juice so rarely these days b/c the cleanup takes me AGES. As in 10 mins of scrubbing to get all the pulp off. That and the washing of the produce and the juicing and we’re at 25-30 mins for a cup of juice. Sigh. Would love any tips to make this go faster!
Still without a laptop? THE HORROR! How are you surviving?
I’ve never juiced but I would love to. Maybe one day I’ll give in and finally buy a juicer. Until then I’ll just admire the pretty colors of your concoction from a distance.
That casserole looks amazing! I love mushrooms with eggs.
the casserole looks really tasty! A great way to use up leftovers!
I have a juicer and yes it does make a lot of noise. I don’t use it during winter because the juice makes me too cold. So, if you figure out how to make it less noisy, let me know
My juicer is not very loud. I like juicing in the AM.. although I can understand having a neighbore issue. Someone told me that if you juice and immediately freeze it then the juice stays fresh and you won’t oxidize some of the good vitamins and minerals.
Ah, I’m sorry, girl! I would die without a day (or a few hours) with my laptop! Hang in there, girlie!
And man, at least share some of your cheesy, eggy goodness! Holy yum! Hee hee!
Just found your blog, I love it!
That sounds like a great challenge! I’m planning on starting training for a half marathon at the end of this month so I guess my challenge is that I actually start running!
