Cookies Galore
Some people get into the Christmas spirit right after Thanksgiving. I on the other hand tend to realize that it’s Christmas time about one week before the 25th.. This year wasn’t any different but I’m really proud that I got all the presents (well ok.. except the one for mum). I also tend to get my Christmas shopping done on the 23rd (and then I’ll promise myself to start shopping sooner the next year).
Ahem. Well there’s no morale to the story. But I’m trying to lead you to the Christmas cookies, that’s why I started babbling about Christmas shopping…
Oh no, wait! Before we get to the cookies, here are some major news:
But… It rained today!!! So much for a white Christmas.
What I actually wanted to say is: I’m really getting into the cookies groove. Yesterday’s chocolate covered apricots aren’t cookies of course but still great sweet treats.
I’m currently making Jessica’s oreo balls (well they’re in the freezer right now – I’m not that good at multitasking
). Can’t wait to try them!
Tomorrow I’ll make at least two other cookie batches with recipes by other bloggers. You’ll see you’ll see…
Speaking of bloggers: I always see so much great food on other people’s blog and always mean to try this and try that but there’s just so much (too much? never!) fabulousness! I wish I had more time. Can I get an additional 2 hours per day for Christmas please?? Thank you very much.
Tonight I also made the Frijoles Parados based on the recipe on Karla’s blog. I will actually bring them to Silvio’s place for lunch tomorrow (he’s ill and I want to make sure that he’s eating anything else besides carbs and chocolate..).
I wanted to try a spoonful first. Which quickly turned into 13975387. Oh dear, these are so good!!
To some other eats of the day..
Breakfast protein oats – I think I found the right “recipe” for me.
(1/3 c oats, 1 c water, 1 scoop protein powder, 1 banana, some cinnamon, a squirt of agave). I topped the porridge with flax and goji berries. And PB of course.
(Lunch was a boring egg sandwich. Nothing über exciting that made me dance around like crazy.)
Dinner was very random but so good! I can happily say now that I love goat’s cheese.
I made scrambled egg with spinach, onion, mushroom and goat’s cheese. I also had some toast with cheese that Selina made me.
The cheese kind of looks like plastic..
How to get to the office..
I was wondering the other day how other people go to work. I generally take the tram to the train station and walk from there (it’s only 15 min by foot to my office). Walking and listening to music is a fabulous way for me to just “switch off” and relax a bit.
The only bad thing about snow of snow/rain (as we have it over here right now) is that you really need good shoes so your feet stay relatively dry. But.. boots aren’t really that fancy in an office. So that’s why I wear these boots when I go to the office:
And change into these shoes once I’m inside.
Ok, I only did that today. Not that you think that I’m always wearing the same shoes and only have two pairs. Come on! I’m a girl!!
You get the idea…
I kind of feel like some New Yorker chick. Minus the high heels. At least on most days.
How do you go to work/school?

Ohhhh just wait…you won’t be able to stop eating them!
Your meals look fabulous, I love the scrambled eggs.
I drive to work which takes about 20-25mins depending on traffic.
in college, snow boots right now are my life… i just keep em on :-\ hahah oh well. & love the sound of oreo balls..yumm oreos are my favv junk food cookie!

Yay for black beans! They’re so good for you too!
I walk to campus because I live a few blocks away. When there’s snow, I wear my handy dandy snow boots and bring some shoes to change into!
I just found your blog and I’m so glad I did! your oats look fabulous.. protein oats are my favorite!
aah me loves oreo cookies. please deliver them to my place, thanks
The Oreo recipe looks delish. I definitely on trying it out soon. Thank dog for the Thomas Green’s shop in Lille as they have both Oreo cookies AND Philadelphia cheese.
By the way, how did the scrambled egg turn out? How does it taste? Because I want to try this, too. I basically want to try all of your recipes. lol
Oh, and I’ve got a good cookie recipe to share. I once tried it out of boredom and Loïc and Fleur loved them. So I made some more for work (that was back in July, by the way) and they were so appreciated that my colleagues kept asking for more! Then I baked them for my sisters, and they loved them and brought some to school / uni. It’s a great recipe because they’re sugary, soft on the inside and crunchy on the outside. Here’s the recipe:
INGREDIENTS:
- 250gr flour
- 1/2 packet of baking powder (the small pink Alsa one for instance)
- 125gr white sugar
- 125gr brown sugar [I personally used 250gr white sugar]
- 125gr melted butter
- 1 egg
- 1 pinch of salt
- Chocolate nuggets [I also used chocolate M&Ms (smaller and peanut-free)]
Mix the flour, baking powder, sugars and salt in a salad bowl.
Whisk the egg in a bowl and add the melted butter.
Pour the egg and butter in the salad bowl.
Add the chocolate nuggets and mix with a wooden spoon (or your hands, really).
Put the dough in the fridge for an hour (I sometimes skipped this, and my cookies were just as nice).
Preheat the oven on 240°C (th. 8).
Make balls with the dough, the size depending on how big / thick you want your cookies to be. Put them on foil, leaving space between each ball.
Allow to bake 10mins for each batch.
Tada! I may add, do not hesitate to taste the dough to make sure it’s sugary enough.
Hi! I am here via your comment on fodologie
I send SO many blogger recipe and food ideas to my husband. I am not sure how we will ever get through them all! We have tried a lot though.
